A Unit Trust is an investment instrument where the savings of many individuals (Unit Holders) are pooled together in a Fund, and is managed by a professional fund manager. Investors' ownership in the fund is determined by the number of units they hold. Unit Trusts in Jamaica are governed by the provisions of the Unit Trust & Securities Acts and are regulated by the Financial Services Commission (FSC), a government body established to regulate the operations of certain financial institutions.
The unit trust manager has a fiduciary responsibility to manage the trusts assets in the best interest of the unit holders. Sagicor Investments Jamaica Limited (SIJL) are the Managers of the Sigma Funds. The manager may delegate its responsibilities to any person approved by the trustee.
You are required to return the certificate (if provided) and sign a transfer form to sell the units. If the certificate cannot be provided, then an indemnity form must be signed and witnessed by a Justice of the Peace before the transaction is processed.
At least one to three (1-3) working days are required to process the withdrawal request.
You will receive a quarterly statement of your account via mail. Unit prices are also published online at www.sagicorinvestmentsja.com as well as weekly in the Business Observer and the Financial Gleaner.

All investments made in Sagicor Sigma Funds can be used as collateral (conditions apply). To do so, your financial institution must submit a letter requesting the assignment of funds in their favour. If you have a joint account, all persons will have to sign giving permission for the assignment.
A fee is charged for this service.
Investors can encash at anytime, a 4% penalty is applied if not kept for the minimum holding period (90 days),with the exception of Sigma Real Estate which is three years.
